Shannon Converse, NP

Nurse Practitioner

Born and raised in Colorado, Shannon and her family moved to the Charleston area in 2021 for a change in lifestyle. Shannon grew up loving nature, being very active, and traveling whenever possible. She is enjoying the beach, humidity, and tropical environment of South Carolina. She and her husband have 3 kids, a dog, and are loving getting to know the South.

After watching family and friends struggle to feel their best, advocate for themselves, and learn about their bodies, Shannon made a switch from a more traditional primary care practice model to a holistic functional approach. She is a Certified Functional Nutrition Practitioner, a Certified Natural Food Chef, and is studying herbal medicine ongoing.

Shannon was an Emergency Department nurse prior to becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner in her 14 years of experience as an NP, she has worked in primary care, women's health, and urgent care primarily. Shannon graduated for the University of Denver with a Bachelor's of Science (BS) in psychology, minoring in wellness. She then earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and her Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) from Samuel Merritt University in California.  She is Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the AANP.

Shannon is continuing her studies through the Institute for Functional Medicine and the Functional Nutrition Alliance.

She has spent the last few years coaching men and women toward their optimal health goals, and is very excited to be bringing that experience to Optimal Bio. Shannon believes that food is medicine, and prevention of illness, and loves to teach people to eat healthy nutritious food without sacrificing taste and fun.

Shannon is very excited to be a part of Optimal Bio in Charleston/Mt.Pleasant!
